In 2014, Jurassic Park celebrated its 21 years. For the occasion was released two limited edition vinyl of the soundtrack
The recent release of Jurassic World (June, 10th 2015) revives emotions and pushes me to presents you the two vinyl collector’s editions of the soundtrack of Jurassic Park.
Spielberg’s choice to add a new chapter to the saga can leaves one sceptical. But whatever people say, Jurassic Park remains a cinematic, iconic and musical reference. The soundtrack orchestrated by John Williams is grandiose. Jurassic Park wouldn’t have sounded the same if the music was different. It is just the same for the majority of Spielberg’s productions.
To pay a tribute to this musical piece of art released 22 years ago, the American website specialised in pop culture and cinematographic merchandising: Mondo Tees, has decided to release in 2014, two collector’s editions of the remastered soundtrack of Jurassic Park. The two 180 gram records contain the 16 tracks of the film composed by one of the greatest composers in the history of Hollywood: John Williams.
The first edition was designed by JC Richard and corresponds to the coloured neck frill of the dilophosaurus who prevents Nedry to escape from the park. This edition on “splattered” vinyl was produced in 2000 copies. As for the version on black vinyl, it was produced in 3000 records.

2XLP pressed on 180 gram Black or splattered Vinyl, with randomly inserted Dilophosaurus variant.
The second edition, my favourite, is made by the artist Dan McCarthy. It is more sober and the symbolism is much stronger. As you can see, this edition features on an amber background, the mosquito which contains the famous DNA from the Jurassic era. This version was produced in 1000 copies.

6000 copies in total were produced. At $35 each, they probably already have found takers. If you fancy buying a copy of the double vinyl, you can always dig on Amazon, Discogs or Ebay, you never know, you might find an old fossil!
