The cult vinyl records, placed on the corresponding turntable to the year of their release
The German artist Kai Schaefer, with his project called worldrecords has photographed a series of vinyl records placed on the matching turntable to the year of their release. This photo project started in 2010 and includes now around hundred pictures. The artist has been inspired by The 500 Greatest Albums of All Time from the Rolling Stones Magazine to make his series of photos.
Kai Schaefer, about his project, says and I quote :
worldrecords is meant to be a tribute to ana¬log acoustic art, a homage to the warmest, perhaps most sensitive type of sound carrier
The artist also explains that the photo series of vinyl records is for the spectator a kind of personal time machine. Music has this special power that allows you to remember moments and feelings from your life. Just like Proust’s Madeleine (memory trigger).
Check out his work, the photos are beautiful.
